Thermal inkjet uses heat to create a bubble that forces ink out. CIJ (continuous inkjet) is a different beast entirely—it's for high-speed industrial coding and marking.

If someone's pitching you a piezo type of inkjet printer for office use, that's fine—Brother's inkjet lineup uses piezo technology. But don't confuse office piezo print with industrial CIJ. They solve different problems.

It's tempting to think you can just compare unit prices. But identical specs from different vendors can result in wildly different outcomes.
